Ceramel involves attaching thin ceramic veneers to the tooth surface to make the alignment appear even. Most cases are done without orthodontics.

Ceramel has a texture similar to natural teeth, so after a day or two following the procedure, you'll barely notice the attachment, and chewing and brushing feel just like normal.

The Ceramel material is porcelain and doesn't discolor itself. However, some people feel it "looks darker" over time, which is because their own teeth gradually turn yellowish or the adhesive color shows through. Coffee, tea, or smoking can cause staining on the porcelain surface, but this is surface buildup that can be removed with polishing.

To be precise, it's not on the Ceramel itself, but rather a cavity developing on another surface of the tooth with Ceramel attached (such as interproximal surfaces or surfaces without Ceramel). Ceramel is porcelain and doesn't get cavities. Such cavities can be treated with resin or other materials only on that area, regardless of the Ceramel, and there's no need to remake the entire Ceramel.

Porcelain can develop micro-cracks or wear while functioning in the mouth, and after 10-15 years, the gum line may recede, making the Ceramel border visible outside the gums. Even if well-maintained, we recommend replacement about every 15 years. If fractured due to strong collision between upper and lower teeth, separate repair or fabrication is needed. During replacement, only the existing porcelain is thinly ground down, so almost no additional natural tooth structure is removed, making it a conservative treatment.

If you have retainer wire attached to the back of teeth after orthodontics and dental floss can pass through easily, we can proceed with Ceramel as is. If the retainer wire blocks the floss path, we temporarily remove the wire, complete the Ceramel procedure, then reattach the retainer.

Yes, it's possible. Many people choose Ceramel only for upper teeth due to cost or concerns about tooth reduction. In daily life, you don't often show upper and lower teeth simultaneously - upper teeth are mainly visible when smiling and lower teeth when speaking, so combining Ceramel on top with whitening on bottom is quite common.

Age alone doesn't cause sensitivity. Ceramel requires removing a small amount of tooth structure for bonding. Those whose gums have already receded exposing roots or who had sensitivity may experience some lingering sensitivity after the procedure, but after a few months, the nerves adapt and being covered with porcelain actually often reduces sensitivity. Rather than worsening over time, sensitivity typically maintains or improves in most cases.
